Listening and Responding

You should do the talking. We should do the listening. Not the other way around. Talk to us. We are listening and we are responding. Read more.

Is Hillier Deliberately Misleading Us?

The evidence is mounting that the Hillier organization is misleading us intentionally and really is not interested in hearing what residents really want. Ponder the following:

  • The Hillier team proclaims that its process is open to input from the public, yet:
    • Mr. Hillier has told us not to bother telling them that we might want to move the Amtrak power substation.
    • Mr. Hillier has told us not to bother telling them that we might not want 1,000 apartments and townhouses at the train station.
  • According to Stan Katz, Hillier is trying to propagandize his Transit Village by using ridiculously small numbers of school children.
  • The Hillier attempt at correcting that "very minor error" was, in Stan's words, "someone ... deliberately trying to confuse the numbers."

Click here to read Stan's remarkable reactions to the Hillier use of numbers and Hillier's characterization of those numbers.

Town Center and Train Station

We want a real solution that you support. Read more. We also don't want unpleasant surprises like those experienced by Washington Township. Read the New York Times article. Also, see the Trenton Times April 12 article "Housing Element Remains Unchanged" and read the response from Stan Katz.

When Rite Aid proposed to tear down the old gas station at the corner of Route 571 and Cranbury Road along with the strip shopping center that houses Chicken Holiday and Dominos Pizza and build a big ugly box on the corner, we swung into action to protect this important gateway to West Windsor. Lower Property Taxes.

Property taxes across New Jersey are skyrocketing. A property tax bill shouldn't rival a mortgage payment, yet that is the case for many West Windsor homeowners. With the problem only getting worse, the time to enact real, lasting reform is now. We will continue to demand action by our legislators in Trenton to enact fundamental tax reform. Read more here.

The school tax is beyond the direct control of Council but there are things that we can do that will have a positive indirect impact on the amount of the school tax. Read more here.

Open Government.

An open, transparent government is an honest government. We want to open the doors of our local government through an open, participatory process. Public participation is essential to the train station redevelopment. We will work tirelessly to promote a government that is open, transparent, and accessible to residents. Read more here.

Preserving Open Space.

We must preserve our few remaining parcels of open space for conservation and recreation -- because once we lsoe it, it is gone forever. We will work with the state and county to secure the necessary funding to preserve those parcels as they become available for purchase. Read more here.

Old Trenton Road Double Line Striping.

Old Trenton Road outside Village Grande is an accident waiting to happen. We are taking affirmative steps to get Mercer County to double stripe the road to prohibit passing to enhance the safety of Village Grande residents. A supporting resolution on the Council agenda at the April 30 Council meeting. Read more.
